PUBLIC SPEAKING

Strategic Sponsor: Sothar Pictures

We’re infinitely passionate about equipping young South Africans with the tools to build confidence, using public speaking. In 2020, Sothar Pictures selected us to be featured on the SABC 1 Born Legends TV show further sponsoring our initiatives with a monetary donation, which we used to host our first indigenous languages public speaking contest for high school learners in our home town, Tembisa. it was a privilege to support the learners’ preparation for the big day and see their confidence levels increase in the process. The significance of this youth empowerment initiative is that it harnessed pride in our South African languages while transferring the important skill of public speaking.

WORK WHILE WAITING- WORKPLACE READINESS

Strategic Partners: Multiple industry experts and guest presenters

In May 2024, the news about South Africa’s rising unemployment rate made headlines. This is a harsh reality, especially for our youth, who bear the brunt of this crisis as the highest percentage of the unemployed population.
Work While Waiting is an online, 8-week, high-impact workplace readiness skills programme for youth aged 17 – 30 to work on their professional communication skills while they wait for an economic opportunity.

The programme covers topics such as interview readiness, professional presentations, personal branding in the workplace, and confidence. At the end of the 8-week training, participants must apply what they’ve learned in a 3-minute presentation to mimic a workplace scenario they will likely face in future. In the inaugural cohort of Work While Waiting, we received 60 applications and accepted 20 to join the program. All have shared remarkable feedback about the content and its impact on their personal and professional development.

PRESENT-DAY LEADERS LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Client: Child Academy Programs

Many young learners get elected into the Representative Council of Students (RCS) after displaying diligence, respect and academic excellence at school. Apart from the one lecture they receive from their principal about being a good leader, many of these learners have never led anyone, let alone themselves. Young leaders grapple with low self-esteem, lack of confidence, and inability to communicate effectively, and they are thrown into the deep end of leading their peers.

The Present-Day Leaders Leadership Training awakens and enhances leadership capacity by harnessing problem-solving, teamwork, critical thinking, effective communication and confidence in young leaders.
This training equips learners to be their best selves today (in the present) to manage the future better.
